What the work involves

The run behind
the wall matters.

Two installations can use the same units and still behave differently five years later. What decides it is the piping, the insulation, the drainage fall and how the gas is handled on the day.

Copper piping & insulation
Thick-gauge copper with closed-cell insulation on every run, sized to the system and stated in metres in the quotation.
Drainage & trunking
Gravity drainage with a stated fall, and either exposed trunking or a concealed route built with the renovation.
Electrical point
A dedicated isolator for the outdoor unit, wired by a licensed electrician and listed as its own line.
Gas, vacuum & commissioning
Pressure test, vacuum to the manufacturer's figure, gas charge by weight, and a running test on every indoor unit before handover.

Three installations, typed and scoped

What a quoted
installation includes.

Three shapes of job, each with the scope the quotation states — the pipe allowance, the route, the access and what is left reinstated.

SYSTEM 3 REPLACEMENT / 3 INDOOR UNITS / 2 DAYS

Replacement reusing the existing route

3 indoor units · existing route reused · 2 working days

The old units come down and go away on the same visit, and the new ones go up on the existing route where the insulation has held.

What the quotation states ↗

Copper run measured and stated, insulation renewed on any run that has perished, drainage fall re-checked at every indoor unit, and the pipe allowance plus the extra-per-metre rate on one line. Disposal of the old units is inside the price.

SYSTEM 4 NEW INSTALLATION / CONCEALED ROUTE / RENOVATION

Concealed route set before the ceiling

4 indoor units · concealed route · 3 working days

The route is decided with the ceiling open and photographed before it is closed, so nothing about the run is a guess later.

How the route is fixed and handed over ↗

Indoor unit positions agreed with the interior contractor, the route drawn with pipe length in metres, ceiling access and reinstatement priced as their own lines, and the vacuum and gas charge recorded by weight at commissioning.

Illustrative two outdoor condenser units on a bracket with pipework in a tray and an isolator box beside them
OUTDOOR UNIT RELOCATION / BRACKET, TRAY AND ISOLATOR

Outdoor units moved to the ledge

2 outdoor units · bracket and tray · half a day

Where the building governs the position, the bracket, the tray and the isolator are quoted before the units are touched.

What the relocation includes ↗

Units pumped down and moved, a bracket and a pipe tray fixed to the ledge, pipe insulation renewed to the wall sleeve, a dedicated isolator wired by a licensed electrician, and the operating pressure read after the move.

Know what happens next.

  1. Send us the flat

Room sizes or the floor plan, where the outdoor unit sits now, and whether a renovation is running alongside the installation.

  2. Free site survey

Horsepower and unit type, the pipe route and its obstructions, the system combination and the electrical point. You get the site note in writing.

  3. Written quotation

Priced by system size and brand tier, with the pipe allowance, the extra-per-metre rate and the exclusions on one page.

  4. Dates and access

Working days on site, the hoisting window the building allows, and the ceiling works sequenced so the route is closed after the pipes are in.

  5. Handover

Every unit commissioned and tested, the gas charge recorded by weight, the warranty document signed over, and the servicing interval agreed.

Before the deposit

Six steps,
each with an output.

Installation goes wrong when the route is decided on the day. Each step below produces something you keep.

1 · Site survey

Free, and done before anything is priced: the horsepower and type of each unit, where the indoor units will hang, the pipe route and any obstruction on it, the system combination, and the electrical point. Output: a site note listing what is fixed and what is not.

2 · Route plan

Where the copper runs, where the trunking sits, where the drainage goes, and what has to be opened to get there. Output: a drawn route with the pipe length in metres to each indoor unit.

3 · Quotation

System size and brand tier priced, with the include and exclude list. Output: a quotation stating the pipe allowance and the extra-per-metre rate.

4 · Approval & scheduling

Building or MCST approval where it applies, and the working days on site. Output: the approval status and the installation dates in writing.

5 · Installation

The old units and piping come out first and are disposed of, then mounting, piping, drainage, the electrical point and the vacuum. Output: a pressure-test record and the gas charge by weight.

6 · Handover

Every indoor unit run and checked. Output: commissioning readings, the warranty document and the servicing interval.

COMMISSIONING / pressure test, vacuum and gas by weight

The survey produces two documents

  • A dated route plan: where each indoor unit hangs, the route the pipe and drain take, what has to be opened to run it (false ceiling, trunking, wall chase), and what is left reinstated.
  • A duration in working days: the number of days on site, whether the ceiling has to be opened before or after the unit goes up, and the date the system can be handed over. Both documents go out with the quotation, not after a deposit.

Typical lead time: five to ten working days from a confirmed quotation for a standard replacement, and longer when a concealed route has to be opened or approval is required. The date is confirmed in writing before the deposit.

System pricing

By system size,
by brand tier.

Installation is priced by how many indoor units you are running and which brand tier you choose — never by a flat per-room figure.

Illustrative concept pricing, not a quotation. Each figure is a supply-and-install range for a standard exposed route with up to 10 m of copper per indoor unit, a single-storey run, an existing power point within 3 m, and removal and disposal of the replaced units of the same system size. Routes that are longer, concealed, or require a new electrical point, ceiling access, crane or building approval are quoted separately. Confirm current rates with the installer.
SystemStandard brand tierPremium brand tier
System 1
1 indoor unit · half a day
S$1,200S$1,500
System 2
2 indoor units · one day
S$2,200S$2,800
System 3
3 indoor units · 1–1.5 days
S$2,800S$3,300
System 4
4 indoor units · two days
S$3,500S$4,500

What moves the number: copper beyond the stated allowance (priced per metre), a concealed route or box-up, a new isolator or electrical point, ceiling access and reinstatement, hoisting where the ledge cannot be reached, and building or MCST approval. Each one is a line in the quotation, not a surprise on the invoice.

Written scope

What sits outside
the installation price.

Two lists, agreed before the units are ordered — because the exclusions are where an installation quote grows.

Check a route with us

Inside the price

  • Supply and installation of the indoor and outdoor units in the chosen tier
  • Copper piping and closed-cell insulation up to the stated allowance per indoor unit
  • Drainage with a checked fall, exposed trunking, bracketing and fixing
  • Pressure test, vacuum, gas charge by weight and commissioning of every unit
  • Removal and disposal of the replaced units of the same system size
  • Workmanship warranty issued as a document at handover

Outside it, unless it is stated

  • Copper beyond the allowance, and any concealed route or box-up
  • A new electrical point or isolator: wired by a licensed electrician and billed separately
  • Ceiling access and reinstatement, false-ceiling works or painting
  • Building, MCST or authority approval: we state what is required and prepare the papers; the approval stays yours
  • Hoisting or crane access where the outdoor position cannot be reached safely
  • Servicing after handover, which is a separate maintenance plan

If the route turns out to be different from the plan once the ceiling is opened, work stops and you get a priced variation to approve before it continues.

Client perspective

“They told us the pipe length before we paid, and the final invoice matched it.”

System 3 replacement · sample story

Sample story. Not a real customer review.

Before you commit

Replacement or repair,
and who does what.

Replace or repair — how do we decide?

Repair is usually the right call when a single unit is under ten years old, the fault is a part rather than the compressor, and the insulation on the run is still intact. Replacement makes more sense when a compressor has failed on a unit over ten years old, when the gas has been topped up more than once in a year, or when the copper insulation has perished along a concealed route — because a new system on a failed route repeats the problem. We price both and tell you which one we would choose.

What does an installation cost?

A System 1 replacement starts at S$1,200 in the standard brand tier and S$1,500 in the premium tier; a four-unit System 4 runs to S$3,500 or S$4,500. That range is for a standard exposed route with the pipe allowance stated in the table above. A concealed route, pipe beyond the allowance, a longer electrical run, hoisting or approval fees are quoted on top, and the item is named on the quotation rather than found on the invoice.

How long does an installation take, and are we without aircon?

A standard replacement is usually finished the same day for a System 1 or 2, and one to two days for a System 3 or 4. Bedrooms are scheduled first where a household is living in, and the units are commissioned room by room so part of the flat stays cool. A new installation during a renovation is faster because the route is open.

What is different for HDB, condominium and landed property?

HDB flats place the outdoor unit on the designated aircon ledge, with the bracket type and route governed by the town council's rules. Condominiums add MCST approval, and some buildings require a concealed route or a specific hoisting window. Landed property usually gives more freedom on placement but brings its own drainage and power considerations. Whichever applies, the constraint is written into the quotation instead of being discovered on site.

What does the warranty cover, and what voids it?

The manufacturer's warranty on the units runs from the installation date and is registered in your name; installation workmanship is covered separately for the stated period. It is voided by servicing carried out by someone else with no record, by a gas top-up that is not logged, or by damage from building works after handover. Keep the commissioning sheet — it is the document that proves the system was installed correctly.

Who handles approval, and what does it cost?

We prepare the drawings and the application, and tell you the fee before anything is submitted, but the approval is granted to the owner and stays in your name. Where a building requires the contractor to be registered with the management corporation, that is confirmed before the installation date is agreed.
